ASBESTOS

Asbestos is a naturally-occurring mineral that is carcinogenic and can cause serious health problems for people who are exposed to it, especially via inhalation. Asbestos can be managed if the material is in a stable condition, otherwise it should be removed as soon as possible to avoid accidental disturbance of unstable asbestos particles which may become airborne.

If you are planning on renovating an older home or commercial space, the process could disturb asbestos and pose a risk to people in and around the building and area of renovation.  We will seal the area where the asbestos containing material is being removed.  We will carefully treat the materials that require removal without disturbing the asbestos and/or using vacuums and HEPA air filters depending on the specific procedure for the materials being removed. And we will dispose the materials per state and federal asbestos disposal regulations.

Our basic asbestos removal involves:

  • We will avoid spreading or tracking asbestos dust in other areas.
  • We properly dispose of all materials, disposable equipment, and clothing used on the job site into sealed, leak-proof, and labeled heavy-duty plastic bags.
  • The worksite will be visually free of any dust and debris.
  • When completed, our certified and experienced team will clean the entire area thoroughly with wet mops, wet rags, sponges, and HEPA vacuum.
  • We are careful to never break any removed material into small pieces.  This is known to potentially release asbestos fibers into the air which can be very harmful.
  • We apply a wetting agent to the asbestos material with a hand sprayer that creates a fine mist before the removal.  This is utilized because wet fibers do not float in the air as easily as dry fibers and will be easier and safer to clean up.
  • Our team makes sure that the work site is clearly marked as hazard area.
  • No household members or pets allowed into the area until the work is completed.
  • We seal all work areas from the rest of the site using plastic sheeting and duct tape, and we also turn off the heating and air conditioning system.
  • After the work is complete, we can test the air and perform air monitoring to make sure there is not an increase of asbestos fibers after the final steps of the removal process.
